Allergy Sufferers May have Rough Spring - Maine News

It seems allergy sufferers will have a rough spring. According to experts, the exceptionally warm weather is calling the season a little early this year and with that the pollination of trees and flowers all over the country comes. As per the experts, this season could be rough one.

San Francisco allergist Dr. Russell Leong said that they suggest people with allergies to avoid pollen. People are also suggested not to open the windows in their house and to make use of the air conditioning in their car to stay inside.

According to the California Pacific Medical Center instructor, with nice weather people would like to go outside and enjoy it. Those who wish and choose to go outside might not find it enjoyable for too long.

"An individual person may have been on a picnic on a really bad, windy day next to a tree, and that would make it their worst season ever. And their neighbor didn't go outside and feels fine. The exposures are so important", said Dr. Andrew Hope, chief of allergy at Kaiser Santa Clara (CA).

According to Dr. Michael Lenoir, an adult and pediatric allergist at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, it is not difficult to blame the shortage of moisture in the air to deaden the pollen spread. Lenoir said pollen will come out if there will be rain or no rain.

The allergies could be avoided if people stay inside and get some sunshine. Hope said that it is really not easy to gauge allergy severity from year to year.

For seasonal illnesses such as flu, doctors have long-standing systems instead of measuring severity. According to pollen counts gathered by various sources and reported online, tree allergies, particularly from alder, ash and junipers are brutal at the moment.
