Question: 5000 calories in a day and no weight gain...?

I don't know what's gone wrong. I'm trying to put on weight (I'm underweigh) and have been going steady for the past year but all of a sudden I can't put on weight anymore - no matter how much I eat. Previously I would have guaranteed weight gain from about 2500 calories. The past few days however I've been eating 3000-5000 calories with no progress. It's very strange. I've never had this before. And it all came on quite suddenly too.
