What's a good way to start losing weight?

I've tried several times to jump right in and start a diet and exercise, but being a college student, it's really hard to live a healthy life. I've also tried to ease into eat and slowly day by day change, but I end up shirking the exercise and diet for easier living. What I want to know is how do you keep motivated?
