The Atkins Diet? Should I go for it?

The Atkins Diet. Basically, you have to start out by cutting out most, if not all, carbohydrates out of your diet. Apparently if you are used to eating a lot of carbs, you may feel intense cravings for carbs, like french fries or doughnuts. But the further along in the diet you go, the more carbs your can introduce into your diet in the form of fruits and whole grains.

I was considering starting this diet because my mom has been off and on this diet for years, and it's the only diet that has ever worked for her. She's lost tons of weight.

There are pro's to this diet that really make me think I could do it.

+You actually get to eat cholesterol including BACON and BUTTER!

+You will most likely loose weight fairly fast in the beginning. Quick results = more motivation!

+You won't feel like you are starving. You can eat as much as you want (within reason) of the foods that you are allowed. And you STILL loose weight!

Major Cons:

-You really have to watch your cholesterol intake. With all the meats you are allowed, it's easy to have high cholesterol. Instead, you should eat fish and nuts. Which actually I don't mind so much.

-If your friends/family go out to eat, it's difficult to find things you want that don't include potatoes...

That being said, should I do it?

I really need to loose weight. I was also planning on starting to take regular walks. I'm not a huge fan of workouts at the gym or intense training so this works for me.
