Do you think calcium supplements are important when you train with weights?

According to my doctor adults less than 50 years old should get around 1,000 milligrams of calcium daily and those over 50 at least 1,200 milligrams. If you use weights in your regular exercise regimen do you take additional calcium supplements as these could help maintain healthy bones and prevent injury? I myself take a 500 mg supplement a day and try to eat calcium rich foods daily.
