Do you think kids are eating as healthy now days?

When we were growing up our parents gave us plenty of fruits and vegetables to eat on a daily basis, especially at dinner time. I can remember there always being either a salad, green beans, corn, corn on the cob, sweet peas, squash, potatoes, tomatoes; basically, always some type of vegetable that my mom would prepare at dinner time. In addition, snacks would generally consist of some type of fruit like an apple, orange, grapes, sliced melon or watermelon during the summer time and healthy snacks like these.

While our parents did allow us to have treats they also made sure that we ate plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. These kinds of foods are so important to our health and vitality. To this day I continue to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and while I do get a sweet tooth here and there, for the most part I snack healthy. This also includes incorporating foods like peanuts, pecans, cashews and things like this into my diet.

How do you feel about this and do you think kids and teenagers now days are eating as healthy as they did 20, 30, or even 40 years ago? Please share your thoughts on this subject...
