Can a Non-Life Threatening Hernia Become a Problem?

I have a non-life threatening hernia according to the doctor. I've been sure it was a hernia for months. But, it took 2-3 different doctors to agree with me. Anyway, I only have family planning health insurance (which was news to me) so doing anything about the hernia is not an option right now.

Trying to get insurance.... It is a work in progress.

I'm just assuming that it is possible for a non-life threatening hernia to become a problem. I walk around with a little fear about it in the back of my mind sometimes. I try to do what I can not to think about it.

It does cause me some issues though. Right now, wearing pants over my stomach is a problem, for example. It causes my whole lower stomach to swell up because of it. Wearing dresses or wearing pants under my stomach prevents this from happening.

Just looking for a little information from anyone who might know a thing or two about it.
