depends on what you like. I cook regular not instant mother's oats in the microwave. cook 1/2 cup of oats covered with water. Cook on high, one minute, stir, cook another minute. done. use milk, agave, yogurt, cinnamon, fruit, whatever on it. Put a plate under the bowl when cooking to catch cook overs.
