Extreme and lengthy lasting herpes outbreak?

Hi, I’ve just found out that I have genital herpes last week, but it wasn’t my first outbreak- I had been having outbreaks for years with the period, but never paying attention or realizing what it was because it was mild and usually disappeared before the period was gone.
But this time after I was just diagnosed my outbreak has been the most severe ever, lasting for more than 2 weeks (I am still having it!), and also I have a low-grade fever and some weird short shooting muscle pains and tingling all over my body. To make matters even worse, the doctor has just told me that I have an abnormal Pap smear and I also have very bad vaginal pain and itching!!!!
I am pretty scared and I don’t know what this can be…is it possible to make herpes last longer because of the incredible stress of finding out that I have all these things?
Has anyone else out there experienced something similar?
