Question: Should press and straining neck?

Update: I have been having clicking in my neck, but more recently, I am starting to believe it is due to my shoulder presses. Whenever I do presses, I get much tension in my neck. Even, when I clearly have the weights in front of me (so I am behind them). I do have ataxia, so it screws up my muscle coordination, and I think this coupled with the exercise is messing up my neck. What do you guys think?
