I would love to hear some tips, because it seems that it's quite hard to do, especially to a stranger that you're attracted to. If you do it out of the blue, then it will be obvious that you're interested, whether both parties are straight or gay. And you're also prone to being rejected. So coming up with an excuse to be able to get the number is almost impossible, unless it has a business tone to it. So unless you're the bold type, for the shy ones, getting a stranger's digits is quite hard to do.
