Family, Friends Remember Slain Connecticut Teen

MILFORD, Conn. (AP) — Prosecutors and defense lawyers say they are not releasing any information Monday on the status of a Connecticut teenager charged as a juvenile offender with killing a classmate hours before their junior prom.

The teen's case had been expected to go before a state Juvenile Court judge in New Haven on Monday. It's not clear whether that happened.

The boy is charged with murder in the fatal stabbing of 16-year-old Maren Sanchez Friday at Jonathan Law High School in Milford. His case automatically will be transferred to adult court under state law.

Police haven't identified the teen, but people who saw him taken into custody said he was Sanchez's friend, Chris Plaskon.

Sanchez's family and friends are preparing for a candlelight vigil in her memory Monday evening at the school.
