Children's TV Presenters

Over the years I think that we have become a lot more liberal as far as who we want to see presenting certain types of TV shows, such as kids TV for instance. A while ago, the only type of presenter that you would see was a white one. But now there seems to be black presenters, Asian presenters, and even disabled ones, which falls into the lap of what I want to talk about.

There is a TV station of here in the UK - a popular one - that employed a disabled women to present a few years ago. She has one full arm, and then the other arm stops at her elbow and then ceases to exist beyond that. Other than that, she is fully functioning and looks pretty normal to me. I thought it was cool that they had a disable/different presenter so that the kids watching would be less inclined to be fearful or ignorant towards diversity. i thought that it may even lessen the urge to bully anybody that may be different.

Turns out that the parents of these children didn't think so. They wrote in to this TV station and complained about how the woman was ugly, and about how she was frightening their children before they went to bed, and about how they wanted her to be fired.

The TV station did not fire her, and she still presents to this day. I agree with that choice, but I don't have any children.

So, do you think that they were right to continue to let her present on the children's television station or not?
