Cynthia Bond's 'Ruby' Gets Oprah Winfrey's Attention

Cynthia Bond's haunting tale of a beautiful, abused woman in an east Texas hamlet was praised for its lyrical language. Oprah Winfrey announced she'd not only chosen "Ruby" for her bookclub's March selection, but she'd also bought the film rights to Bond's book.
