If I do 3 hours of skipping jump rope , will I lose weight in 1 month?

I hear things like if you run a lot your body is going to keep your fatness to survive.Or starvation leads to muscle loss.So it's all about the key, the trick ,it's about an attitude not about being hard to yourself. So if I do 3 hours jump rope everyday, will I lose weight or it will backfire me?
