If blind in each eyes, can imaginative and prescient be restored, even just a bit?

I wish to write a narrative about any person who misplaced their sight as a youngster, and is now 27 and fully blind. Is there any approach that his imaginative and prescient can also be restored, even supposing simply the slightest? I havent made up our minds how he looses his sight but, it depends upon what eye injures can in fact be handled to revive sight. I dont be aware of a lot about it but and that i plan to do alot of research, however im in search of one thing to push me in the correct path.
