Question: Is it possible to gain muscle without exercising?

A couple of years ago I was anorexic and I was also an exercise addict. So I was very slim with little muscle mass or body fat. My hip bones were protruding, collarbones were very visible, small legs, etc. Well at the beginning of this year I stopped starving myself and started eating a little more. I also don't work out anymore. The scale says I've gained 3 lbs, but I don't look flabby. I just look fuller, but very toned. For example, my thighs have gotten bigger. My stomach still feels toned and very hard, but my hip bones are no longer sticking out. My arms are also fuller. But it doesn't look like fat. I just look more muscular. And I haven't been working out at all.

Is it possible that I gained muscle? Or is it just hard fat?
