Steroids project I need help from any one that's knows about it.!!?

Okay so I'm in high school, and I'm doing a project on steroids.. I've heard about the dangerous side effects that steroids, have but I'm confused because I notice from the bodybuilding Olympic and the worlds strongest man competition, that they are still using them..... Even from the Thor movie I notice that Thor gotten big, for that movie in such a sort amount of time.. I also heard that steroids give you acne, but through out the bodybuilding competition I seen no acne on them.... Like is there a new safe steroid?? because it's pretty obvious, that they are still using them even after knowing the danger behind them... Like they always claim their not using them, but how in the world their getting so big and strong in a short amount of time?? What are they using because I also hear about supplements too, so what are they using I need all the information I can get for this project..
