Question: Is it okay to eat before bed?

I've started out on this eat-much-less diet, and so last night, I didn't eat anything after dinner. I had dinner around 6, and went to bed around 11. So it was basically a five hour frame in which I did not eat, and I went to bed starving. The reason for this is that I've heard eating before bed will make you gain weight. Anyway, this wouldn't be a problem, except that the hunger caused me to have REALLY bad acid reflux in the morning. So bad that it woke me up really early, and I couldn't get back to sleep. I have a feeling it had to do with me not eating much the previous evening. I really need to lose weight and cut back on my eating, but at the same time, I don't want my sleep to keep getting disturbed by this painful acid reflux. What do you recommend I do?
