Zero calorie foods

Does anyone purposely eat zero calorie foods? In case you're not aware, these are foods with low calories that you spend more energy to digest than they actually have. Some examples are: Celery, carrots, lettuce, watermelon, cucumbers, oranges, and strawberries. There are actually quite a few more zero calories foods than what I've listed.

Has anyone tried this as a weight loss method? I have to admit, when I had gestational diabetes, I ate many of these foods and I actually didn't gain much weight during my third trimester.
