Eating several small meals a day to lose weight?

Typically, you hear the advice of eating three meals a day to have a balanced diet. I noticed that when I had gestational diabetes, I had to eat every few hours. When I did this, I actually gained very little weight in my third trimester. Apparently, it's actually better for you to eat several small meals a day if you wish to lose weight.



Has anyone else done this with success? If I were more regimented, I would do this again. It really seems to assist with weight loss.
