Elf et al vs God et al

It's late, I'm eating oatmeal and am reading through this stuff. Believers say nonbelievers cherry-pick arguments and misuse scripture; nonbelievers say that believers cherry-pick their beliefs and dodge logical questions. It's the same in every thread.

I figured this could be fun. Or not. We'll see. This isn't meant to offend, just to spark discussion. I would like to know why you believe in god given all of the information I give below, even Creationists like Rocky and SOJ are welcome. But if you state a fact, you should be ready to have a source to back up what you say in order to be taken seriously.

This is my take on God with no fancy words or rhetoric. Not my take on just religion, or just Jesus Christ, or some piece of scripture, but God of religion as an entity as represented by the three main religious. After I give my take, feel free to critique it and give your own take:

I am an atheist. This means I do not believe in any god of any religion. Do I think there could possibly be a god? Well, sure. But there is certainly no reason to think that there is one, or at any rate, no reason to think that there exists a god that intervenes in human affairs.

Now, it's not just that I don't believe in god, it's that I cannot be made to believe in god - I cannot be convinced that there is a god as described in all of the main religions.

I cannot be made to believe that there is an omniscient (all knowing) god who set out to create a perfect utopia... and then failed .

Furthermore, I cannot be convinced that there is an Omnibenevolent (completely good) god who created mankind without mankind asking to be created in the first place, and then that god commands mankind to worship him or else eternal hellfire awaits the non-believer. Believe in me or perish is the message here. This is not benevolence, this is nastiness. This is totalitarian.

I cannot be made to believe that any religion was inspired by a kind and all-loving and all-knowing god. Every religion displays barbaric ineptitude when contrasting a right action from a wrong action. "My wife is on her period? Oh, I can kick her out of my home? Awesome, thanks Old Testament." "Oh, my penis becomes erect and makes me think nasty thoughts which in turn make me sin? Well, since women are inferior to men then we can force them to garb themselves at all times. Thanks, Islam." "Oh, a voice spoke to me telling me to kill my child? Well, alright, looks like I'm going to walk him out to the desert and murder him. Thanks again Old Testament." "Oh, my wrong actions don't really matter in the grand scheme because Jesus died to forgive me of my past, present and future sins? As long as I plead forgiveness, all will be righted. Thanks New Testament."

None of this can possibly be inspired by a benevolent god. This is so obviously man-made.

Lastly, mankind (our specific species) has been on this earth for close to 250,000 years. Some say less, some say more, but it's around that number. You mean to tell me that an all knowing god didn't decide to tell people about him until 247,000 years after humanity was around? You mean to tell me that an all-loving and all-knowing god watched ancient human meander aimlessly for 247,000 years until one day deciding, "Hey, I'm going to impregnate a virgin girl with my son in an insignificant part of the desert - where people can't even read - to save mankind." You people do realize that 2000-3000 years ago the Chinese could read and perform complex mathematics? This would have been a better place to send a Messiah because then an actual account could have been created. So much for a god who thinks ahead. This is nonsense.

Not to mention that the story of Jesus was plagiarized completely from Pagan tradition. The Pagan god Attis was murdered on a tree and resurrected three days later. This tradition was celebrated every Spring Equinox (Easter). Gee, sound familiar?

The concept of God as described in every main religion does not add up.

And the idea behind every main religion is entirely the backwash of ancient superstitious minds bent on building a hierarchy and controlling others around them.
