Ignorant Conservatives

I'm certainly not bringing this up to win points with any skeptics here. It just bothered me. We have talked about it before, but since I saw it in person, it need to vent.I was playing poker with some guys the other day. I guess gay rights are coming to Colorado or maybe they're already there. These guys are going off about how horrible it is. "It's an abomination, terrible, etc etc" I told them I didn't believe in legislating morality. I'm one of the few Christians that believes this unfortunately. I don't see it in the New Testament. Romans clearly points out that it's wrong, but nothing about forcing unbelievers to adopt Christian behavior....notice I didn't say morals...behaviors. The word morality is subjective in nature.

...and before you started posting the judgement scriptures in the Old Testament about stoning homosexuals, keep in mind that anyone that disagreed with God's law were free to go. It's the same today in most countries. However, that's another conversation. It was wierd listening to these people I thought were reasonable and then hearing this insane condemnation of homosexual rights just because they thought it was a behavior they thought was disgusting.

I wonder where this comes from? It seems like some Christians think they're, "more," Christian if they act like this is intolerable. I felt a little bit of ostracization when i spoke up for homosexual rights. They just ignored me and shook their head. It pissed me off.

Done venting.
