Question: Can I build muscle over the lost tissue/cellulite from a cortisone shot on my butt cheek?

Can I build muscle over the lost tissue/cellulite from a cortisone shot on my butt cheek?

About a month or two ago I developed a bad rash. The doctor gave me a cortisone shot on my left butt cheek. Ever since then my bruise has been spreading and I have noticed that inside the bruise feels deflated. I looked it up online and it says that it's common for a large size of cortisone to eat away the cellulite in that area. It also said that it will get deeper and bigger. I am horrified with the thought that I will no longer have a nice round backside and be left with a big deep crater on my butt cheek. I am a 23 year old female that's in good shape but have stopped working out as intense as I used to. My boyfriend told me to focus on my squats so I can build muscle over that missing tissue on my butt. Is that possible? Would it work? Has anyone experienced this and has been able to fix it?
