Practise running 3k every day. The trick to running is not to sprint. Don't try to run as fast as you can. Just find 3km, go and run it and then walk back. Or run 1.5km in each direction. It really doesn't matter.
Just run for ~half an hour each day. Make that progress. The conditioning will make you loose weight, and it will make you fitter aerobically also.
Also, wouldn't hurt to buy a kettlebel and practise function exercise such as the swing or snatch with it. It'll help to build lean mass and generate a stronger core.
Keep going with those. Now if you want to get faster - you need to generate more power. To do that you need to get stronger. Now without getting technical, or talking at pro level, if you have stronger legs you run faster and fatigue less.
So get doing barbel and deadlift and squats. I deadlift 400lbs and im incredibly fast at sprinting compared, especially compared to when I started and couldn't pull 100lbs.
Being sick isn't the answer, training and...
