Question: Ideal weight? Healthy weight loss?

That weight isn't really much out of line for your height, but if you want to lose another ten or so pounds you are absolutely right, starvation isn't the way to do it. In fact, it will slow your metabolism and cause your body to hang onto every calorie because it is trying to save you from death! The only and the best way to lose weight and keep it off is to substitute unhealthy foods for healthier versions and eat three normal meals per day and at least one snack. For me, I'm hungriest in the morning so I eat breakfast, have a snack around 10 a.m., eat lunch around 11:30 or noon, and then eat supper around 5 p.m.

What is a healthy version of a food? Whatever is closest to its original form - baked or boiled chicken instead of battered and fried chicken. A ham and cheese sandwich instead of a ham and cheese Hot Pocket sandwich. Water instead of sugary soda.

Most important to understand is that being thin will not make you like yourself. That's the real issue, isn't it? It's easy to think that fixing something external will change the internal, but it won't. Look up pictures of Michael Jackson in the early 1980s, and them compare those to pictures of him a few years before his death. Do you see what he did to himself? This was a multi-talented person with tons of money who became so obsessed with "fixing" his appearance that he essentially had himself mutilated, and none of it made him happy. He died because he was so anxious he could not sleep at night and needed someone to anesthetize him to do it. Don't do that to yourself - find out what it is that you dislike about yourself and when you find what that is and love yourself for the God beloved unique and irreplaceable human being you are who was born at this time and in this place because the world simply couldn't do without you, your external appearance won't matter as much to you.

Wishing you well!
