Is doing different variations of push-ups for 30 minutes a day good for you?

I started doing push-ups two years ago doing only 100 of different varieties of push-ups every other day .my friend told me that will never get cut if I only do 100 push-ups. so I extended my work to half an hour every three days and I am asking if this is good or not
