Drink of choice before/during/after workouts

There are many different types of drinks, and a large number are directed towards energy or are health related. So I want to start a discussion on what people drink!



Some popular options are:

Water

Protein drinks

Energy drinks

Ion replacement drinks

Sports drinks etc





As for myself, I like sipping on water during and after a workout. Sometimes I also like drinking an ion replacement drink, the Japanese "Pokari Sweat" which is sweet and very refreshing even when made from sachets. All other drinks I think are too high in sugar or calories and don't really satisfy me for my simple beginner work outs.
