Do you believe in ADHD/ADD?

I just came from my facebook news feed and saw a headline about ADHD being a hoax. Have you seen it? Apparently the king of ADHD admitted he made it up or something? Didn't read it, just saw the headline quickly and considering the source, it was probably made up; I don't know. It does fall in line with my thoughts though.. so yes.. biased reading ahead.

Now.. it doesn't matter what diagnoses we're talking about. If it were proven a hoax tomorrow, everyone who has it will deny it or say it must be something else they have.

Open minds please.

What do you think? As kids, we're not built to sit all day.. we're full of energy that needs to be used. As adults, we come from the children we were and many are stuck in a chair until they're out of post secondary.. and even then, many are just off to different chairs. Distraction is getting crazier the bigger the classrooms get, the fuller the schools get, the more crowded the workplaces get. Then consider the diet most people eat. Even if we make it the healthiest grocery store diet.. pesticides etc add up.. that can't be good for the brain. Then add what most people are ACTUALLY eating lol. Not good. Garbage and little energy expelled.. is it a wonder kids can't concentrate? Adults too.. it's built up longer in them.. kids just have far more energy.

My oldest son was diagnosed with ADHD. I saw it as a finger pointing instead of admitting they dropped the ball with him and I took him out of the system (with his blessing of course.. he was against it until then, but he was fed up too). Brought him home, taught him correctly, let him release energy like a normal kid, and what do you know.. no symptoms. He was concentrating again, better knowledge of the materials etc. This is something that apparently requires meds.. changing things the way I did would not have made the symptoms go away if they were correct about him. He's currently above grade level and concentrates like a champ. No more fidgeting, no more impulse control issues. School was making my child a nutcase lol and they wanted him to be a zombie. Neither works for me, out you go.

But then, most people can't take their kids out of school to see the difference, but many do see a difference over the summer holidays. I don't know how many people say their summers are good, but the minute their kids are back in school, they have to up the meds their children take. it blows my mind the connection isn't made. These poor kids are being drugged to conform.. it makes me so sad.

I'm sure some try everything though and the child still doesn't improve. I just haven't come across it yet, that's why the post. This is just my experience and from what I've seen in almost every case I come across. But, I don't know the entire world, so I'm asking.. do you know of an actual case? Do you yourself have this diagnoses or believe you have it?

Holy wow that's long.. sorry about that lol..
