Probably more people must be dying due to negligence of the medical staff rather than due to diseases or treatment failure. There are so many cases of medical staff not acting immediately to the patients needs and therefore the patient would die. In US , now a legislation would be formed that medical staff neglecting the patient would be jailed, and I think if it comes to India, most of the govt hospital staff would be jailed.
Nurses, doctors and managers who mistreat or neglect their patients will face up to five years in prison under a major law change announced by David Cameron last night.
The Government will introduce a new criminal sanction for wilful neglect, covering any staff suspected of abusing or mistreating patients in their care. The measure was one of the key recommendations of a report by Don Berwick, Barack Obamas former health adviser and a patient safety expert, into the fallout from the Mid Staffordshire scandal
