Would you still pursue someone who is in an open relationship?

I'm just wondering what are your thoughts on this one. I find it such a strange concept, and I even tend to doubt if the feelings are sincere if they let their partner date other people. Although I know a couple, they have a child already, and the guy does not really look good and his gf looks kinda cute, so he lets her have other partners because he loves her and wants to make her happy. (And deep inside, I'm thinking that he probably wouldn't find anyone else better that would love him, lol). He isn't interested in dating other people, he's content with his gf. I find it weird, but hey, it's their thing. His gf is bi, so he allows her to have a gf.

Now I'm wondering. I have 2 questions to ask you guys. Would you allow your partner to date other people if you really love them? If no, hows about if it's the same sex? Would you still forbid it?

And if you happen to like someone who is in an open relationship, regardless whether it's a straight or gay relationship, would you still pursue them even if you know that they have other partner/s? Take note, this person also likes you. And to make it more complicated, they have a kid! Would you still go for it? Why or why not?
