Question: Can I fix my metabolism/weight?

'm in my late 30s. In my 20s and early 30s a lot of my coworkers used to ask "What do you do??? You are sooooo skinny." I used to eat healthy but I always ate a lot. Then I got an IUD and suddenly I put on weight (like 30 pounds) and I CANNOT lose it. I try everything. Dieting, gym, running, EVERYTHING but I cannot get the weight off of me for the life of me. Even though I got the IUD out it's like my metabolism changed permanently and I can never lose more than 2 pounds...no matter what! (My thyroid tested normal, btw).

Is this normal in one's 30s? What do I need to do differently? What is the best diet/exercise regimen? I feel like I am barely treading water to MAINTAIN my weight let alone lose weight (as I want) so I look slim and trim again.
