I would recommend using 'drop sets' to get over your plateau. A lot of people will do heavy weight/low rep, which does not fully work the entire muscle group, but only the small portion of that muscle. Drop sets will help to build the surrounding supporting muscle that does not get worked during the high weight/low rep routine.
