How to lose the thin layer of fat over abs that keeps them from being truly defined?

I've been working out for a few months now, and i have a killer workout schedule and routine, with arms monday, legs, arms, back, abs, then rest sat and sun....everytime before i workout i run 3miles... however i still have a thin layer of fat over my abs, i feel that they are there and i wasnt fat when i started to work out, i feel like ive gotten stronger but i still look the same stomachwise... when i was in the marines i went to a gnc store and seen a preworkout shake that increased calorie burning by 300%.. idk if that will do the trick or if there was another type of supplement or shake out there..i watch my calories that i intake aswell
