I try and eat a very well balanced diet which include most of the vitamins and minerals i need according to the recommended daily allowance values. Other than that, i do take a simple protein shake post my workout which provides me with enough protein to repair the micro muscle tears due to workout.
Whether you need vitamin supplements depends on the quality of your diet and other genetic and medical factors, IMO.

Sometimes you can get all the nutrients you need form your diet and sometimes not...supplements are meant to be supplements...not replacements...unfortunately we treat them that way at times. I take whey protein, fish oil, and a multi-vitamin amongst others to get the nutrients I need more of on a daily basis...if I could get them all in my diet every day, I would prefer to do so...but I choose not to or cannot during each day.

I use to take a multivitamin supplement but I no longer take it. I felt a short boost but I think that was just a mental boost. Right now I just watch what I put in my mouth. I think if you watch your diet you wont really need a vitamin.

I take one vitamin C pill for adults daily. I actually prefer to eat more fruits and vegetables though.

A multivitamin isn't designed to make you feel anything or give you a boost...a multivitamin is designed to give you the adequate vitamins and minerals that you will most certainly miss in ANY "perfectly" balanced diet. I cannot think of one single situation where someone shouldn't be taking a multivitamin...in fact, I find it quite amazing that so many individuals do not take a multivitamin.

I'm thinking of stopping my vitamins and supplement intake and just eat healthily. I don't usually take a lot of fruits and vegies, but I'll do so. This new dietician I went to recently suggest as much, that the best way to get vitamins, iron etc is to eat fresh produces whatever they might be. Sounds doable since I sometimes forget to take my daily vitamin & supplement pill, but I never forget to eat, lol!

My problem with taking vitamins is swallowing them! Some multi vitamins are like horse pills and I gag on them. I need to try and find one that is smaller and easier to swallow. If anyone has any suggestions I'm open to hearing them!

It gets easier to swallow pills with the more often you take them.

Simply put the pill on your tongue, take a small swig of water, and tilt your head back before swallowing...the multivitamin should slide right down into your throat and then your stomach.

If you are still having trouble, get some enteric coated capsules as opposed to tablets and they should slide down the older guzzler a bit easier than before.

All the best,
