Hi Guys,
I remember reading an article somewhere several years ago about controversial and potentially dangerous exercises and bodybuilding techniques which are fairly common in gyms everywhere. I thought it would be great to start a thread and share some of our experiences with controversial and potentially dangerous exercises. These are a couple of them that I remember but feel free to add more!
Full- Range Squats or Leg Presses: This is when you bend your knees beyond 90 degrees. What tends to happen in a full squat using weights is that you tend to balance your body by leaning forward. This causes straining of the lower back. If you use the leg press machine, you strain your groin if you go past 90 degrees.
Upright rows : Apparently bringing a weighted barbell or dumbbells up to the chin is considered a controversial exercise because of the shoulder damage that could be caused by compressing the nerves in the shoulders.
