I'm in the process of losing a good amount of weight. I peaked at 223lbs, and am currently down to 187lbs. Yaaay!
I've been avoiding any strenuous exercise on the theory that it was unnecessary to stress my body (esp. the heart) until my weight was out of the danger zone. I'm still considered to be obese.
So, exercise has not played a role in my weight loss, nor do I plan on using it for weight loss. If anything I expect to gain weight from more lean muscles when I start exercising.
But my question is when to start? I'm not trying to bulk up, just build strength and endurance. It seems pointless to start before I get to a weight where I can actually see the muscle development! Right now the fat layers are still too much.
Have I found a really reasonable excuse to delay exercising :), or is it a good idea to hold off until I lose maybe another 20lbs.??
I think shows like the Biggest Loser are quite dangerous and I have no intention of stressing myself like that at a stage of such low fitness.
