Rude to Speak Foreign Language

I am mixed, and have a variety of different nationalities that comprise my ethnicity, and I currently speak many tongues, although english is my mother tongue.

Now that I've prefaced that, lets get into the meat and potatoes of the situation shall we? Lol. There have been times when I've been at the hairdressers getting my hair done, and my hair dresser can be either white or black or Asian, depending on which prices are more convenient at the time that I need my hair done.

One time I was getting my hair done, and another customer was complaining because one of the ladies had cut his hair too short on on side, and so she told him to calm down and said that she would even out both sides to his liking, even though she already felt like both sides were even. She explained what was going to happen to him in english, and then when her co-worker came out, she promptly began to speak to her in their own language. They were both Asian, and I could not understand what was being said, but I instantly knew that they were jibing and belittling the boy who had complained about his hair. It was a very awkward situation. The boy wasn't pleased either.

So do you think that it's rude to speak different languages around people who can't understand or speak that language?
