Sounds good right? But what exactly does it mean? In layman's terms, it means you are not eating from a box, can, or a pouch. And of course not cooking with them either. Avoiding processed foods, and staying on track with the freshies! Here's a quick list on eating clean.
1) Whole foods. Think local farmers market. Fresh fruits and veggies. No cans, bags, pouches, etceteras. Just plain fresh. Picked today, steamed today.
2)Cooking and preparing your own meals. Do I really need to mention this part? Yes, avoiding restaurants where salt and sugar is used to flavor your plate of processed foods. Do your research there's a million and one ways to steam and flavor your fresh finds.
3)Process your processed choices carefully: What does this mean to us? Choose carefully on whats available in your cabinet. Of course things like whole grain pastas, quinoa, and other healthy grains are considered processed. Those are the good ones to have around. Avoid the obvious; salty rice mixes with sauces, canned vegetables and fruits, canned meats.
4) Small meals and lots of them! Try to have 5 or six mini meals each day. Keep that metabolism all revved up all day long!
5) Keep it sweet: Slash out refined sugar and use other substitutes. In other words, keep away from pouring on sugars to your foods. If your fruit isn't sweet try something like raw honey, Stevia, Organic Agave. You'll add sweetness without getting sluggish.
