It sure helps to plank, I'd recommend an ab challenge which is a 30 day progressive workout routine. Sit-ups, push-ups and Planking all are included. You start low on day one and end high by the end of the month. You must take rest days. By the end of the month you will have made progress with a good shape and also you will be good at the excersises included.
