I was reading an article about Osteoporosis, and in the aricle they mentioned that it is thought that inadequate calcium causes osteoporosis. So says the National Osteoporosis Foundation.
The article went on to explain the need for calcium is for the heart and muscles, and nerves to work properly and also for blood to clot.
And it also talked about Vitamin D, is needed for the body to absorb calcium.
They claim we do not absorb or consume enough calcium to grow healthy bones and so exercises are very important for good bone health.
And it is quoted as saying stay away from smoking and too much alcohol.
Vitamin D, can be taken as a supplement or you can spend time out in the sun and eat a healthy diet.
But it only thinks this is what causes the disease. My uncle's and aunts had Osteoporosis. They lived and worked on farms and spend a lot of time outdoors doing farm work exercise and had dairy herds so they made their own butter and cheese, and drank milk daily.
Each had big gardens that supplied plenty of healthy organic vegetables. And yet each one had this disease.
All of my uncles and aunts on my one grandmother's side of the family got the disease and just bumping against the refrigerator caused many broken bones, for my uncle.
Now I am not saying the information is not true but I would like your thoughts on this disease and have you any family members that have it? Please share here.
