I must say that I was very surprised when I read that headline. All this while, I thought that children are getting lots exercise. However a study found out otherwise:
The researchers from the University of Alberta, Canada, studied more than 600 children, between the ages of nine and 17, from the Canadian town of Leduc and surrounding areas.
And their research found that:
... the children spent almost 70 per cent of their time doing sedentary activities; nearly 23 per cent was devoted to light physical activity; almost seven per cent to moderate physical activity and 0.6 per cent to vigorous physical activity.

Children need just seven minutes a day of 'vigorous' physical activity to stay healthy | Mail Online
Is it really that bad? What is your personal experience concerning children and the amount of exercise they take?
