Question: Calorie counting….is it pointless?

That depends on how much portion wise you're eating, and what you ate before. If you ate a cookie a day, and you cut that out, you'd need a couple of years to show a difference, if you ate a quart of ice cream and cut that out, you'd see a difference in ten days of about a pound.

And just because a food is healthy doesn't mean you can eat a ton of it.

Do make sure you include some whole grain breads or pasta, they are the best source for B12. And that often gets forgotten.
