I've tried this when I was in high school, I did it for two months and there was no significant changes on my weight. But now, I mostly do it because I was advised by our family physician to lessen the possiblities of having a high blood pressure. But I don't go to sleep without eating nothing. I just usually eat a toast and lots of water.

You know, I did do something similar when I was in my 30s, but I stopped eating after 3:00 p.m.! I ate what I wanted before this. I did lose weight steadily but I would never recommend stopping eating at that time to anyone, even though I lost weight doing it. My sister did something similar, but she stopped eating after 5:00 p.m. and did very well with it.

I will be honest. I like to go to bed hungry when I'm trying to lose weight, so I don't eat after 7:00 if I can help it. But I (usually) go to bed around 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

I really heard many people who are swearing how effective it is to follow this technique but at the same time there are those who are not benefited by it so the bottom line here is that it might depend on an individual's metabolism and condition. As to how healthy can this diet, I think that should also be discussed. :)

Love how people over complicate the process of losing weight with stuff like this. You don't need to micromanage so much. Whatever your eating schedule or routine is, just make sure you're not stuffing your face with crap. That's one part of it. How is this hard to grasp?

Harder for most people than we estimate unfortunately...dieting can be as simple or as complicated as we make it depending on our individual goals.

However, once you get a diet down, you can log it and stick to a routine so that what once was complicated is nothing but tedious...and soon, what once was tedious, becomes nothing but a system.

Many people will think they can continue to eat crap and lose weight if they stop eating past 5pm - some people are remarkably stupid, to be frank. What you eat is the most important variable when it comes to health and weight loss.

Most people should worry less about eating schedule and worry more about how many calories they are intaking. I agree what we eat is important to health, but it really doesn't matter for weight loss. It's all about calories in vs calories out, and I can easily lose weight on eating junk food as long as I don't go over my maintenance cals. 2000 cals of twinkies is the same as 2000 cals of good old brown rice/chicken breast/etc in terms of losing weight.

Of course this is terrible for your overall health so I don't advise anyone to eat 2000 cals of twinkies to lose weight though haha.

Where did you get that one from? Calories from simple carbohydrates are not the same as calories from complex carbohydrates, fats, or proteins.

While I will agree with you by saying that overall caloric intake is the primary factor in weight loss, a calorie is absolutely not just a calorie if you are at any level concerned about body composition.

Example: person A eats 1500 calories of Twinkies for 3 months straight and person B eats 1500 calories of a macronutrient split of 60/15/25 (protein/carbs/fat). Both will in fact lose weight given similar activity and circumstances...however, with proper weight resistance training, person A will look like a pear shaped piece of spaghetti and person B will have a relatively defined muscular body.

If all you are concerned about is purely weight, I suppose a calorie may be a calorie. If you care at all about your health and body structure, calories are completely different in how they are used by the body in terms of burning fat, being stored, and rebuilding torn muscle tissue.

1500 calories of Twinkies is going to store fat and waste away muscle...1500 calories of being majority protein is going to retain and grow muscle while eliminating stores of fat.

In all respect, looking like jello at 150 pounds versus looking like a fitness model at 150 pounds are indeed measured at the same weight scale...but I don't think most people want to look like the jello just for the sake of stating a lower number on the scale. Your facts are correct, but the information would mislead a motivated individual who is eager to lose weight and re-shape their body (would anyone want to look like jello?).
