Try an handful of raisins - the sugar will give you natural energy and since they are dehydrated, there's no liquid in them to make cause you cramps during your workout. A spoonful of natural peanut butter with unsaturated fat will keep you going for longer too - it will keep you from getting hungry during your workout. By far the best way to hydrate, if you have access to it, is fresh coconut juice - it's the best sports drink in the world, full of electrolytes, potassium, and also low in sugar and salt!
