Which Manufacturer Has Issued a Recall?

The United Kingdom Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency have issued safety alerts for all-metal hip replacement devices and Articular Surface Replacement hip devices in 2010. Furthermore, the National Joint Registries of the U.K. and Australia reported that ASR hip devices and other similar hip devices have high failure rates. After the negative reports surfaced, an all-metal hip device manufacturer, DePuy Orthopaedics, recalled two of its problematic hip systems: the ASR hip replacement system, and the ASR XL total hip replacement system.
