Making junk food is an advanced science

I have just read a news report on how junk food is manufactured and I am very depressed by what I have read. Apparently the manufacture of junk food is a very advanced technology. There are scientists who have done studies on what makes the consumers buy junk food and junk food is being manufactured with recipes that are fine-tuned to make the consumers buy and buy and buy. Isn't that simply horrible?

Now what can we do about this sad situation? Isn't there any law against this kind of thing? Anywhere?
