Try making your own trail mix, with Rasins thrown in there.

All sugar; I wouldn't recommend a single type of trail mix...no exceptions...unless you are trying to bulk up and/or you are about to run a marathon...otherwise your body will be storing the energy...as fat...which is not healthy.

It is very important to eat a lot of fruit and vegetables on a daily basis, because they are rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, but there are some other foods that you can eat that have excellent nutritional benefits as well, such as beans, which are high in protein, fish, sweet potatoes, brown rice, flaxseed, quinoa, spelt, peanut butter (no sugar), and polenta.
---End Quote---
Fruits are loaded with sugar...less refined sugar...but sugar...which is either used immediately OR, you guessed it, stored as FAT.

When will the forum get to the bottom of the fruit "weight loss" myth? Fruit doesn't help anyone lose weight.

Fruits and vegetables are the main thing for weight loss but that is exception for you.So what about egg, fish, beans?because these are tasty and many ways to make them in different dishes.Try them and let me know about the result.Thank You

I know you came back to post links by editing your original post a few days later. If you want to post links, you don't need to be sneaky about it...doing so will get you banned a lot faster than if you are more up front and relevant with your posts and links. Hope that helps.

Things I like to eat that are healthy include carrots, raisins, GRILLED chicken, lettuce, craisins, almonds, roasted peanuts, and broccolli.

You need to cut out the snacks if you wnt to lose weight, just eat 3 meals. You shouldn't feel the need to snack if you are eating the right foods. Protein and vegetables will make you feel satiated for hours. Increased meal frequency raises insulin levels, not what you want to do when losing weight.

Agreed. Snacking becomes obsolete once you learn the times when food is needed and the time when food is not needed. The correct amount of protein after intermittent fasting coupled with complex carbs and fiber keeps the snacks at a thing of the past.

Here are the items you want to eat to avoid carbs in general, maximize your protein, burn fat, and lose weight:

1) whey protein shakes
2) low fat cheese
3) lean meats (burger, steak, chicken, fish)
4) fish
5) some beans (refried)
6) deli meats
7) eggs

And that is about it. If you are serious about shedding unwanted fat fast, the above foods will provide the protein without the carbohydrates, which is the true method of fat storage (if not used). You want to eliminate anything the body stores without using it, and that means saying goodbye to carbs at all times possible. Difficult to accept, but factually proven and scientifically true! :)

This is counter to what I learned about fueling my body. But then I used to be runner. The problem was that when I stopped running, I continued to eat the same way. I have increased my protein since finding the forum and I have lost weight. I can attest to it from personal experience. I still need to cut back on carbs though.

I eat most of the items on this list except eggs and I use a vegetable protein powder. I'm lactose intolerant and a bit hesitant about using a soy powder because of hormones. Also, most soy in the US is genetically modified.

I eat hummus; yes, lots of fat, but also loads of protein.
I also eat loads of vegetables, all kinds.
Drinking herbal teas is another thing I do; chai, green, and peppermint.

Nice changes to your diet, Hardison. It is hard to accept a low carbohydrate style diet before you first partake in it...especially if you are participating in endurance style types of sports...such as distance running.

The fact is, even if you are choosing to participate in high endurance types of sports, a high protein diet will provide more stamina in the long term as opposed to higher carbohydrates because the muscles will be constantly fueled to repair, rebuild, and provide fuel to work as hard as possible in short burst and long-term style types of strain...most hardcore runners would accept my statements to be a farce...but they'd be wrong. :)

Thanks for giving a better diet a chance...I hope it is helped you to lose fat and gain muscle by re-structuring your diet away from high carbs and more towards higher protein. Thanks for your feedback.

Going low carb was so hard for me at first, but once I started eating and drinking a lot more protein, the cravings went away. I was just always full and didn't even need all of those carbs. It killed my constant sugar cravings too.

You were probably experiencing low-carb flu. It can take a while for your body to adapt to the low-carbs, your body will not adapt overnight. High-protein is important for satiety on a low-carb diet, fat is important too.

Food plays an important role in living healthy life. In my opinion we should eat natural food because natural food is always best for health. According to me fruits and vegetables are best food so we should eat these food and avoid fast food.

I experienced the same thing. I was craving mashed potatoes and I only them a few times per year. A nutritionist tool me that potatoes were a bag of sugar. They graphic was effective as I never really ate potatoes much after that. I had the cravings for about a week. Then, I was okay. Eating protein really satisfies my hunger.

I know that potatoes are high in carbohydrates, but I never took in mind the added sugar, what is truly a shame from a craving standpoint, because I love potatoes to the extent that I have over a hundred of recipes to prepare them.

Needless to say I will start moving away from them, and look after a more healthy alternative.

Snack with nuts and carrots/ celery. Don't make the mistake of reducing your food intake or your body will go into austerity mode and your metabolism will slow down. The best foods for weight loss are lean meat and reduced carbs. Try to stay away from white foods like potatoes and sugar, especially things with high fructose corn syrup.

For a diet treat, when you've just got to have something nice or you'll die, low fat natural yoghurt, frozen in ice cube trays, often hits the spot. Lovely and cooling in summer and one cube is often enough to take the craving away.

That actually sounds pretty darn wonderful.
