Adequate brahs so this is the deal, I took an intro to pc science type over the summer season and bought an A in it. Now this semester i am taking a category referred to as Pc Science I, which remains to be an entry stage category that assumes you recognize no Java coming in, however strikes at a percent so much quicker than the intro classification, and covers extra subject matter as neatly.
Now the whole lot had been going swimmingly, the labs and homeworks are difficult however I’m able to doing them. Then the professor gave us our apply midterm this prior Wednesday, and Ho Le Fuk. This chit is ridiculously onerous, method tougher than any homework or lab we have now had. 7 questions complete, the a couple of option questions have more than one solutions and are very difficult, the remaining three questions are writing your personal code on paper with nested for loops exhibiting patterns that modify up and down, writing strategies that might have me performing some critical considering and debugging with on eclipse let on my own on paper, and many others. And to prime all of it off, we most effective have fifty three MINUTES to do the take a look at. Most lessons at my college which have fifty three minute lectures time table night time checks so that you could have 2 hours to complete the check, however no longer this one. A kind of questions would most probably take me 1/2 an hour to do.
I googled info about this class, and found out that for a semester in the past the class midterm average was a fukking 30 lol. Is it even possible to do well in something like this without being pretty proficient in Java going into the class?

its not that bad, data structures was the hardest for everybody
most of the exam question are actually interview questions…just google java interview questions
like interface, abstract, private, public, polymorphism etc
you will have some questions that you will have to tell what the code is doing and what is wrong with it…outside of that you will be fine..
The class will probably be curved. Then it just becomes a competition of failing a little less worse than your neighbor.
Welcome to college bro.

Yeah I understand that there should be a curve, but what’s the point in making a test so hard that 99% of the people who take it need to rely on a curve? Even the Asians are nervous as hell about this (no racist, I mire the math skills of the elite Asians at my school).

writing java by hand is fairly easy, I took 3 courses that were all written purely in java (CS:I, CS:II, & data structures) and had to write multiple tests without cheat cheats.
good luck op

This is why programmers get paid the big bucks.. they don’t want and shouldn’t want everyone to get through. Even when you do get through your competition for jobs will be that 1%
Just practice practice practice.. do practice programs out of the book or find some online.. the more algorithms your are exposed to and discover by yourself the easier the logic becomes
But that’s just my opinion… Don’t get all BUTTHURT if you don’t like that opinion. 10/10 girlfriend crew
Example of questions?
I assume they wont be too harsh on syntax errors since you are writing by hand. If it’s asking questions about actual Java implementation details then it might be good night sweet prince.

Lol data structures is the hardest? What kind of poverty university are you in? If you struggle with data structures and algorithms, you’re not gonna make it and your dumb as phuk so please stay out of computer science and major in business.
In my course the “hardest” class is Assembler & Operating Systems, light years away in complexity than something like data structures lmao.
Also on topic, if you struggle with Java, (automatic memory management, very high level, garbage collection, noob friendly) just stop now.

brah I already graduated and I have years of work experience…Assembler was interesting & Operating Systems was easy
our data structure class was in C++ and it was the most failing class in the whole university , it was on another level the way our professor was giving homework and exams
